Pooch & Mutt is the UK's first ethically approved dog supplement specialist. Following this, in 2014, Pooch & Mutt was awarded the European Design Award for the outstanding display, packaging and design of its products.
"Our mission is to ensure that all dogs lead a happy and healthy life," company founder Guy Blaskey states. "This means not only creating the highest quality products with real benefits for dogs, but also ensuring that they are accessible to as many dogs as possible and doing all this without negatively affecting any dog's life or environment."
Born out of nature
Pooch & Mutt uses only natural ingredients and ensures that all production is as environmentally friendly as possible. Six years ago, Pooch & Mutt was awarded 'The Ethical Award' from the Ethical Companies Organisation, part of The Good Shopping Guide. The company is also approved by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) for not testing on animals. "Our products are trialled on our own dogs and those of friends and customers, but never on laboratory animals," Guy Blaskey states. "In fact we were very surprised to learn that some dog food products are tested on laboratory animals."
A family affair
Pooch & Mutt products are formulated and inspired by Blue Chip Feed (www.bluechipfeed.com). Blue Chip is one of the world's most successful equine supplement companies - and the first horse feed company to receive The Ethical Award. The company Blue Chip was set up in 1996 by Clare Blaskey, the mother of Guy Blaskey. In 2008 her son set up his own company, Pooch & Mutt. "For years people had been asking Blue Chip to make products for dogs, then in 2007 the Blaskey family dog, Cookie, was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. This was the impetus that they needed to create the dog range," Guy Blaskey reports.
Today, Pooch & Mutt offers a range of natural supplements, including one for itchy skin, one for joints and a high-quality salmon oil. Pooch & Mutt's award-winning ranges of hand-baked treats are low in calories, natural and wheat-free. Just under a year ago, the company launched a grain-free, natural and complete range of dog foods.
