The Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft Zoologischer Fachbetriebe (WZF), promoter of Interzoo, assumes that this year’s show will once again be a huge success despite the absence of some big firms like Mars, Royal Canin, Hill’s Pet Nutrition and Spectrum Brands. The number of exhibitors could even significantly exceed the figure of two years ago, when 1 539 exhibitors had stands at the show. As of mid-February some 1 350 companies had already booked their stand at the exhibition.
Strong foreign contingent
The trend towards a growing proportion of foreign exhibitors will continue this year. Around 80 per cent of the exhibitors registered so far come from abroad.
In Europe, fairly large areas have been booked in particular by companies from Spain, France, Belgium, the UK and Italy. From further afield the fair is recording a stronger exhibitor showing from the USA and Asia in particular. Many countries will once again be represented on large joint stands, including Brazil, China, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Canada, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and the USA.

Focus on organic
Special attention is being paid at this year’s Interzoo to organic products for pets. Manufacturers of certified organic pet food can present their wares in a special display for the first time. The participants will be featured in the fair catalogue and all the products listed will feature on the Interzoo website with an exact description. Each product in the separate display will bear a reference to the exhibitor’s stand. Only products certified as organic in the pet food/feed category are permitted. “The Interzoo organiser WZF GmbH aims to appeal with the new stand to new target groups such as organic stores, for example, and to provide visitors with ideas,” explains Hans-Jochen Büngener, Chairman of the Interzoo Exhibition Committee.
At Interzoo 2014 the Bundesverband Praktizierender Tierärzte (Federal Association of Practising Veterinary Surgeons, bpt) is organising the first seminar for German-speaking vets on the Thursday of the show.
