Founded in 1998, Yantai China Pet Foods Group owns five subsidiaries: Yantai China Pet Foods, Yantai CP International Trade, Yantai Wanpy Pet Product Sales, Yantai Aska Foods and the Yantai China Pet Foods Research Institute. Its headquarters are located in the Shengquan Industrial Park in Laishan District, Yantai. The company covers 50 000 m2 and has over 1 500 employees as well as four subordinate factories, including a pet biscuit factory. “All our factories are designed and built based on human consumption standards, and are strictly managed in accordance with the registered standards of the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry of Japan,” says Ada Zhang of the International Trade Department. The factories have been certified as complying with the HACCP food safety system. Yantai China Pet Foods is one of the largest and most professional pet treats manufacturers in China, as well as a member of the American Pet Prod­ucts Association (APPA). Focus on dogs and cats The entire range is divided into a dog and a cat category. In total, there are 11 lines and over 500 varieties including Dry Chicken Jerky, Dry Duck Jerky, Dry Beef Jerky, Dry Lamb Jerky, Dry Pork Jerky, Dry Fish Jerky, dog biscuits and cookies, Dog Sausage, Retort Pouch and canned foods. The total annual output is over 27 000 mt, made up of the dry jerky lines (12 000 mt), canned food (10 000 mt) and others (5 000 mt). “We always concentrate on quality control and new product development,” Ada Zhang continues. “All products are approved by local CIQ and satisfy our customers. At present, the company is applying to become the first Export Free-inspection enterprise in this industry with the support of our government.” The company has large numbers of professional technicians and they pay great attention to research and development in new products. Currently, 13 kinds of products have been patented on the National Invention and National Appearance Design, including Dry Chicken Jerky and Pollock Sandwich, Dry Chicken Jerky and Pollock Sushi, Dry Chicken Jerky with Biscuits, Dry Chicken Jerky and Pig Skin Steak, etc. In addition, more products are patent pending.
