One of the new franchisees is “25:an Hund & Katt” in Luleå, far up north in Sweden. The store was founded in 1981 and stocks everything for dogs, cats, small animals and birds on a retail area of 120 m². Bardarnas Zoo in Ljungby has also joined Djurens Värld. The company has been operating since 1999 and runs a 290 m² store situated on two floors. The store stocks dog, cat, small animal, bird and fish supplies as well as live small animals and fish. “Mölnlycke djur & ridshop” is another store that is now part of Djurens Värld. It is located just east of Gothenburg and sells products for dogs, cats, horses, small animals, birds, fish and reptiles as well as live animals. The store was established in 2000 on a retail area of 170 m² and will be extended to add another 120 m² in spring 2012. Small animals in Karlshamn “Karlshamn Zoologiska” has also joined Djurens Värld. The store is located in Karlshamn and has been in existence since 1972. “Karlshamn Zoologiska” has a floor space of 350 m². It sells live small animals in all segments and supplies for dogs, cats, small animals, birds, fish and reptiles feature in its range. “Hund & katthörnan”, the fifth new member of Djurens Värld, is located a couple of miles south of Gothenburg and has acquired a reputation as a specialist shop for dog and cat owners. The shop doesn’t sell live animals but stocks a wide range of supplies for dogs and cats as well as accessories for small animals and birds. The owner started the store in 2005 and has been expanding it ever since to a current retail area of 200 m². Working hard for a good concept Several of the new owners also work with a local veterinary clinic to provide additional service to their customers, offering weekly visits from a veterinarian for vaccinations and health check-ups on dogs, cats and small animals. Djurens Värld will have more stores lined up showing interest in its concept for 2012. Increasing its number of franchisees is not the only goal for Djurens Värld, however. The company also works hard to provide good value and quality in the services that come with membership, stresses Annika Engdahl, chairwoman of the board at Djurens Värld.
