1.How do you assess the prospects, limits and risks for LED lighting solutions for aquariums?2.Do you already offer LED lighting solutions for aquariums? (precise description, recommended consumer price)"Luminance often still too weak"1.The new LED solutions are well on the way to displacing other forms of lighting. In some cases we are seeing clear, positive developments here. LEDs can be produced in various colour temperatures - it is only a question of whether the light spectrum (and not the overall colour) is suitable as the sole lighting for pets and plants in the long term. This is not the case with many of the lights on the market. The luminance of many products is also still too weak. In the course of further development stages, however, especially with regard to energy saving, LED technology will advance further and in a few years will certainly be available on a wider basis.2.Yes - we have just shown the "sera reptil LED energy light" (picture) at Interzoo. The clip-on lamp with flexible gooseneck is suitable for lighting aqua-terrariums and nano aquariums. It clips onto material up to 15 mm thick and has 72 bright, long-life LEDs (48 white, 24 blue). The low-voltage technology (12V) with upstream transformer makes the lamp especially safe for use with water. The Sera solution can be switched manually from day to night and is particularly economical on energy (8W). The recommended retail price is € 39.99.Sera"LED technology will catch on"1. The colour spectrum, especially the red component, helps plants to grow and thus contributes to the biological equilibrium of the aquarium. From 6 500 Kelvin onwards the colour temperature should take account of the aquarium and in particular the sense of well-being of the fish.2.The products available on the market up to now haven't convinced us sufficiently, and for this reason we are not currently offering any LED solution. Our team of R&D experts is looking closely at this exciting area, however. To be true to our brand responsibility, we are naturally also thinking about how we can make such technology available to a broad range of customers at affordable prices. The biggest disadvantage of LED lighting technology from the consumer's point of view is its much higher price compared with the…
