Bamboo is the pet care division of Munchkin, a leading designer and manufacturer of baby care products in the USA. The company was launched in 2004 by Steven B. Dunn, a parent to two children, three cats and two dogs. Its vision is to bring the expertise of Munchkin's baby care products to the pet care world.
In 2007, Bamboo acquired Fat Cat, a leading cat and dog toy manufacturer known for creating products with an innovative design. With the introduction of "Fat Cat" to the Munchkin family, Bamboo provided a "Fat Cat" makeover for all of the Bamboo play products. Product lines like "CatFisher" were relaunched in 2008 under the fun "Fat Cat" umbrella. According to Bamboo, the "Fat Cat" line continues to thrive in the play category.
First steps into new segments
Bamboo's pro-duct categories include care (nail care and grooming tools, including "FurBuster" de-shedding tools), home ("Feed + Toss" disposable feeding system, plate & bowl sets, cleaning accessories), travel (collapsible travel bowls, "Arm & Hammer" waste management system, travel collars and leashes), play ("Fat Cat" branded dog and cat toys and accessories) and dental/treats ("QuadBrush" pet toothbrushes, "DogToids" and "CatToids" breath mints).
At the Global Pet Expo, Bamboo marked its first steps into the treat and equine industries. The company launched "CatToids" and "DogToids" - breath mints made in the USA with human-grade ingredients and natural flavours. A further innovation launched at the Global Pet Expo is "FurBuster Equine", with the same design as the original "FurBuster" product for dogs. According to Bamboo, the design of the product makes de-shedding a simple task.
Bamboo has also given its "CatFisher" cat toys a new look and feel. The toys include a "Rod 'N Reel", "Whipper Snapper Wand", "Fishing Bobber", "Garden Mitt" and "Door Hanger". Bamboo says that each fun toy in the line features removable and interchangeable "kitty lures", with organic "Zoom around the Room" high-test catnip inside.
Focus on travel products
To meet the rising demand for travel-friendly pet products, this spring Bamboo announced a series of innovative travel items designed to accommodate pets outside the home.
