For Bertin, which was founded in 1977, the pet products market is an important growth segment worldwide and in Brazil. Its pet products division is positioned for fast expansion as a result of continuous research and development, process improvement programmes, quality control and rigorous hygiene, and focusing on pet health. “The latest line of products offers value to the retailer and meets customers’ needs. All products are developed to provide variety and the best flavour combined with the highest quality raw material and added benefits that the pet consumer is looking for,” says international sales manager Ronaldo Toffolo. Tasty products Bertin’s pet products division produces and offers rawhide products such as bones, retriever rolls, munchies, strips, dried bovine parts such as bones, pizzles, lungs, oesophagus, snouts and meat-based products made with real beef meat. Rawhide products made with fresh beef hide are a typical speciality of the company. The production is located in four plants. Only rawhide products are produced in Conceição do Araguáia, Cacoal Rondônia and São Luiz dos Montes Belos. The plant in Guaiçara São Paulo produces rawhide, dried body parts and meat-based products. The distribution centre is also located here. “We are selling our products worldwide,” Ronaldo Toffolo continues. “They can easily be found in markets such as the United States of America, Europe, Asia and South America. Our company works with retailers, wholesalers, superstores and speciality stores.” The export quota corresponds to 94.9 per cent of the total sales of the company. The biggest purchasers are mainly in the United States of America and Europe. In Europe, the Dutch company Rawhide BV has been established to serve the European market. “The main focus of Rawhide BV is to put all the premium pet products from Bertin on the European market including Bertin’s own brand Fun Pet,” says commercial director Caroline Lucardie. “We think that 2009 will be the year a lot of companies will go for a long-term relationship with reliable suppliers with a fair…
