Petgear is part of a division of the international wholesaler Vepabins, which produces and sells trash bins across the whole of Europe. The group of companies is based in Den Helder in the Netherlands and has 150 employees. Twelve of them are dedicated to Petgear. Of these, four are employed as sales representatives. Vepabins has 39 000 pallet spaces and operates 25 trucks that drive daily through the Benelux countries. Petgear has 5 000 pallet spaces reserved at the moment, but has just opened a new hall comprising 7 000 pallet spaces. If necessary the company can build further halls, because the land next to and behind the existing logistics centre also belongs to the Vepabins group. Petgear offers around 2 500 items in all at the moment: pet bedding items, collars and leads, pet carriers, cages for birds and small mammals, plastic aquariums etc. The company is the exclusive dealer for the Italian pet accessories supplier Imac in the Netherlands, for the Australian company Gummipets throughout Europe, and for the UK pet bedding designer Posh Pet Bedding (the company of Sarah Spencer) worldwide and is the logistics partner for Quiko Sun Seed. The products are sold to pet shops, pet shop chains and garden centres. The Dutch company also imports products directly from several countries as well as selling products under private label for customers, and is interested in becoming a logistics partner for distributors. At the moment Petgear has between 950 and 1 000 customers in the Benelux. To raise its profile further in the Benelux states, Petgear will display its products at the Dibevo show taking place in October in Hardenberg.
