The Ukrainian Kormotech group of companies, one of the top 50 global pet food manufacturers according to own information, has entered the markets of Qatar and Nigeria. With this expansion, Kormotech products are now available in 46 countries. Currently, the company supplies approximately 1 065 tons annually to the Middle East and African markets, and Kormotech plans to gradually increase this volume.
In Qatar, Kormotech supplies Club 4 Paws cat food, while in Nigeria, both cat and dog food from the Club 4 Paws brand will be available in pet stores.
The pet food market in the MEA region is steadily growing: it is projected to reach 6.46 bn dollars by 2028. The compound annual growth rate (CAGR) is expected to be 4.32 per cent through 2033. This growth is attributed to an increase in pet ownership, particularly among young people and the middle class, as well as a rising focus on animal health.
"Compared to developed markets, the competition in Qatar and Nigeria is lower, but these markets are growing rapidly," says Mykola Deviatov, Head of Strategic Business Unit 3 – South-Eastern Europe, Central Asia & Middle East. Before entering these markets, Kormotech Group of Companies adapted its products to meet the needs of local consumers and expanded its flavor range by adding more options with chicken, lamb, and fish. "Local consumers tend to trust established manufacturers, but they are also open to new brands that offer a balanced composition at an affordable price," says Deviatov.
