Inflation in the eurozone has fallen for the second month in a row. Consumer prices were 2.6 per cent higher in February than a year earlier, according to a second estimate by the statistics office Eurostat in Luxembourg. In January, inflation in the eurozone was still 2.8 per cent and in December 2.9 per cent. A year earlier, inflation had stood at 9.9 per cent.
The lowest annual rates were recorded in Latvia, Denmark (0.6 per cent each) and Italy (0.8 per cent). The highest annual rates were recorded in Romania (7.1 per cent), Croatia (4.8 per cent) and Estonia (4.4 per cent). Compared to January, the annual inflation rate fell in twenty member states, remained unchanged in five and rose in two.
