At the 75th delegates‘ conference in Leipzig, delegates of the German Pet Trade and Industry Association (Zentralverband Zoologischer Fachbetriebe – ZZF) once again chose Norbert Holthenrich as president. In his fifth term of office, which will also be his last under the association’s constitution, he has committed to working “for good general conditions in the pet supplies sector and the positive development of pet keeping”.
Holthenrich summarised the association’s last year as an “emotional rollercoaster”. High inflation and the burgeoning costs of energy, transport and packaging had conspired to pose a host of challenges for the sector. The desire of people to share their lives with pets remained strong despite everything, however, and “the omens for the pet sector were good,” was Holthenrich’s optimistic assessment.
