Inflation in the euro zone dropped to 9.2 per cent in December after being up at 10.1 per cent the previous month. This was the news from Eurostat, the European Union’s statistical office, based on a flash estimate. According to this, the decline in Luxembourg (-1.4 per cent) and Germany (-1.2 per cent) was particularly large.
Inflation is running at the highest rate in Latvia and Lithuania, where it continues to be over 20 per cent. The lowest rates are in Spain (5.6 per cent) and Luxembourg (6.2 per cent).
