Companies in the pet sector and veterinarians have sent an open letter to the Italian government through the Assalco and Anmvi associations. In it, they call for a long-term reduction in VAT on pet food, pet services and pet medicines, currently standing at 22 per cent, to 10 per cent. This was reported by the Italian platform Pet B2B in its newsletter. As explained in the letter, the high level of VAT imposed is an obstacle to responsible pet owning in the current pandemic crisis.
