The exhibition floor at last weekend's Zooevent in Kassel was relatively sparsely populated. Some previous exhibitors stayed away from the show this year, while others cut their stand size significantly compared with previous years. The visitor response on the two days of the show was also fairly muted, according to most of the exhibitors present. Some exhibiting companies nevertheless emphasised the high quality of the customer discussions, with much of the activity being centred on the stands of the two organisers, Sagaflor and Egesa-Zookauf.The organisers took a positive view in their official post-show report, although the visitor figures were not published. According to the report, the exhibition area of around 13 000 m² contained the stands of over 250 exhibitors, including 25 companies attending for the first time. These presented a snapshot of the latest trends and directions in retailing and in the pet and garden sectors. The reaction to the "Messetalk" ("Show talk") feature in particular pleased the organisers. Saturday evening's show party was another highlight, with exhibitors and visitors socialising until the early hours.Zooevent 2019 is to herald a reorientation of the show concept and repositioning of the fair, according to the post-show report.
