Growth in double figures for Fressnapf

Sales up by almost 19 per cent in 2003

Fressnapf ended 2003 with an increase of 18.68 per cent in sales, while turnover grew to 552 mio €. The company’s 466 stores in Germany accounted for 459.5 mio €, recording growth of 13.8 per cent. The figure for like-for-like growth in Germany was just over three per cent.
Last year’s hot summer caused some concern for Fressnapf due to the effect on sales, according to one press report, although overall sales in December rose by 20 per cent, with like-for-like sales putting on 7.8 per cent compared with the same month in 2002.
The franchise company experienced particularly strong growth abroad. The 90 stores outside Germany, in Austria, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Hungary, Denmark and the Netherlands increased their sales by 38.5 per cent. Growth of 10.7 per cent was recorded on existing floor space. Fressnapf is to open another 80 stores this year, both in Germany and abroad.
