Petmate merges with Cosmic Pet

Platinum Equity has announced the acquisition of Cosmic Pet, a leading designer, marketer and distributor of pet products, including toys, beds, collars and leashes, treats, food and bowls, and other accessories. Cosmic Pet will be merged with Platinum Equity portfolio company Petmate. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Cosmic Pet was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in Wichita, Kansas. The combined company is led by Alice Tillett, CEO of Petmate. Cosmic Pet's Wichita operation is expected to remain an important part of the merged company's network.
