European, American and Chinese brands in particular play a major role in the Japanese market for pet products. Undaunted by this fact, Hakusan is steadily expanding its market presence year on year. It was established in 2016 by Amenity Conducts Co., a Japanese firm specialising in the import and distribution of canine requisites, outdoor products and dog furniture from all over the world. “Based on a sound foundation of ten years as a distributor of globally known brands, we decided to create our own brand of dog requisites,” says a spokesperson for the company, adding: “Our domestic market for pet products is dominated by European and American brands. We realised that we could gain a greater share of this market, where discerning consumers with a high level of quality awareness appreciate high-quality products.”

Before bringing the first dog harness onto the market, the company studied a selection of high-grade dog accessories from manufacturers worldwide. It scrutinised these closely to analyse every aspect of a product that was truly dog-friendly.

Charting a course for growth 

In the last seven years, Hakusan has grown steadily. Its quality-oriented products enjoy increasing popularity among the company’s customers.

As one of the fastest-growing national brands in the domestic pet sector, Hakusan offers an extensive product range. This extends from Nordic dog harnesses with specially commissioned, modern Scandinavian designs to a compact, extremely mobile, folding dog stroller on four wheels and a large assortment of natural dog food. “Every year, new products that are innovative and ingenious are being developed,” says the company. With uncompromising quality and unmistakable design concepts, Hakusan is extending its research into current global dog requirements so as to be up to date at all times with its products.

Hakusan is also taking advantage of its previous and current contacts with Scandinavian brands and designers. In 2021, it entered into a global collaboration with Finnish design studio Ratia: “The unique combination of Japanese technology and modern Scandinavian aesthetic taste has given rise to a number of stylish, charming dog accessories,” says the manufacturer in summary.
