"CIPS is the best sourcing platform for the global pet industry, and an ideal bridge connecting the growing Asian market," states Yang Cheng, general manager of the organiser Great Wall. He says that nearly 1 400 exhibitors presented their goods and services on an area of 130 000 m².
The top ten exhibiting companies came from China, Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Germany, India, Italy, USA, Japan and France. A total of 189 companies (14 per cent) came from outside mainland China. The leading three exhibitor categories are toys, cages and food in the pet section, and tanks, accessories and food in the aquatics section. Of the exhibitors, 908 dealt with pet products, 452 with aquariums and 24 were active in other fields. "Usually, buyers may place 70 to 80 per cent of their annual order from Chinese manufacturers at CIPS", Yang Cheng underlines.
The visitors came from 90 countries, an increase of 11 countries compared with 2017. There was a slight decline in South American visitors and an increase in visitors from Oceania, with the other continents remaining stable. The top 10 countries for overseas visitors are Hong Kong, the USA, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, Thailand, India, Russia and Indonesia. This is the first time that Thailand, India and Indonesia have entered the top 10 visitor list.
