Active marketing strategies and a major brand presence in print, digital and online media have enabled a Munich-based company to become established as a premium brand for healthy dog and cat food across Europe and beyond within a short time.
Terra Canis is still a relatively young company in the industry. It was set up in 2005 and prides itself on being the first pet food company to introduce moist food containing only food-grade raw ingredients onto the market.

The company emphasises that all its moist food varieties are produced in a family butchery that otherwise only produces meat and sausage products for human consumption. The butchery is a third-generation family business that has gained recognition and countless awards for its products. Because only food-grade raw ingredients are used, the traditional production premises have a special permit to manufacture the Terra Canis products. This is on account of the high quality of the raw ingredients, according to the company. Normally pet food may not be manufactured in food companies producing items for human consumption.

Terra Canis was established with the basic idea of feeding dogs on raw ingredients of a quality such as is found to exist naturally. To achieve species-appropriate nutrition for dogs, the natural way of feeding, based on the wolf as a model, is replicated in the company's range of foods. According to Terra Canis, the products contain meat from the muscles and heart in particular, high-quality protein, plus a large quantity of vitamins and minerals. Fibre, which is important for the dog, is added in the form of plenty of healthy vegetables, fruit and herbs. These should ensure good digestion by promoting the gut motor function and maintaining natural bacterial flora.

Regardless of the variety, all Terra Canis meals are free from synthetic additives and artificial attractants, according to the supplier.
