Price competition, lost margins, fierce rivalry between the bricks and mortar trade and e-commerce, branded goods versus private labels, the growing unpredictability of customers – the challenges facing the pet sector are pretty similar in most industrialised countries at the moment. But the way in which these challenges are tackled by the various countries is different. Taking a look around, it is evident that, in spite of the recession not yet being beaten and notwithstanding increasing competition in the pet sector, niches are constantly being discovered in which smart companies can become comfortably established.
The purpose of conferences is for delegates to come across ideas that they would not have hit upon by themselves. The International Pet Conference 2014 offers a host of opportunities for the industry and pet retail trade. Taking place in alternate years to the Pet Conference for the German-speaking countries for the last ten years, it is organised by Dähne Verlag, publisher of the trade magazines PET worldwide and pet, and the well-known conference company Managementforum of the Verlagsgruppe Handelsblatt.
Networking
Anyone who is familiar with the conference appreciates the breadth of topics covered, the expertise of the speakers and the large number of renowned sector experts from near and far who are regular visitors. And the outstanding networking opportunities, of course, because most visitors to a trade conference want ultimately to make new contacts and maintain existing ones. This is why the International Pet Conference will feature so-called “business speed dating” for the first time this year, giving delegates the chance to make the maximum number of business contacts in a short space of time.
