Traditional food for Koi

Established in 1967, Uni-President has grown steadily over the past four decades. Starting out as a flour manufacturer, the company diversified into food, feed, beverage and dairy businesses. The aquaculture product lines include aquaculture feed, seafood products, aquarium fish feed and Koi fish feed. In 1994 the company launched its “Aqua Master” brand. Over the years, product sales have grown continuously and the brand is now sold in 20 countries throughout Asia and Africa. Now the company’s aquatic business division is planning to enter the European and American markets. It combines a traditional oriental diet with modern biochemistry technology to produce the “Aqua Master” Koi fish feed. Natto (fermented soya beans) have been known as a health food that benefits digestion for over one thousand years in China and Japan. Natto probiotic has been added to the company’s Koi fish feed to benefit digestion and reduce water pollution. Following rigorous experimentation and testing, it was determined that the addition of a suitable amount of natto probiotic can benefit fish digestion, reduce the amount of excrement and lower faecal density, making it more soluble in water. When natto probiotic interacts with fish excrement, harmful nitrous acids are converted into nitrates, which have no effect on water quality. This is a proven and effective way of keeping water clean and promoting fish health. Additionally, the natto probiotic adheres to the filter bed and is converted into a probiotic which does not have an adverse effect on the aquaculture environment. Nucleotides are also added to Koi fish feed to strengthen the immune systems of fish and improve disease resistance. Nucleotide molecules are quite small, enabling them to repair cells, provide effective disease resistance and help protect fish against the stress of external environment change. As a result, fish stay healthy during long-distance transportation and the enhanced growth effects will help to ensure the physical health of Koi fish. Uni-President adds ingredients to its feed to boost fat metabolism, which improves fat absorption and utilisation and enhances the fat metabolism mechanism of fish. In-house production At present, the company has production sites in China, Vietnam and Taiwan, including two new facilities that will be completed this year.
