At its 25 000 m² site in Wehringen, Bavaria, Interquell has invested a total of around € 10 mio in the construction of a suite of modern offices together with new warehouse and production units, which are being fitted out in part with new machines. "We had physically reached our limits in the old premises - both in terms of production and in the warehouse and distribution sphere. Now we have sufficient capacity and can considerably shorten our delivery times. This effect will soon be noticeable for our customers," says managing director Georg Müller, explaining the reasons for the new building. The production facilities now generate around 7 t of pet food per hour, instead of the 4 t previously - and enough reserve capacity is available to extend this to 10 t per hour. To manage this increase in volume, Interquell has also enlarged its workforce, creating ten new jobs in production and administration. The company currently markets its products in over 30 countries. Its main export destinations include Russia, Hungary, France and Italy. In spite of its increasingly international outlook, Interquell's product philosophy is characterised by tradition, a closeness to its roots and the proverbial proximity to nature. The company considers itself to be absolutely on course for success: "When it comes to manufacturers of dry dog food distributed via the speciality trade, we are certainly among the top five in the industry in Germany," comments Georg Müller. Interquell is also growing abroad. But the company, which can look back on a history extending over 200 years, doesn't intend to rest on its laurels. The Wehringer outfit intends to set trends in the sector with innovations such as the organic dog food it recently launched on the market. The building of its new complex has now created the technical infrastructure and space required for this.Download: Interquell invests in the future (.pdf file)
