The takeover has been completed: The Obi Group has announced that all Obi stores in Switzerland, which were previously operated under the Migros franchise system, will be managed independently from 1 April. This includes the new store in Agno, Ticino, which is currently being renovated. In addition, Obi is expanding its network of stores in Switzerland by two more locations: the two existing 'Do it + Garden' stores in Carouge and Nyon will be added as of 1 July. The Obi Group confirms that the 576 employees and 61 trainees at the 13 stores will continue to be employed.

“Our vision is to be the first port of call for our customers in the home and garden sector throughout Europe - and Switzerland fits perfectly into our vision for the future”, says Dr Sebastian Gundel, Chief Executive Officer of Obi.

Migros explains: The sale of the Obi shops is part of the Migros Group's focus on its core business, which the company announced at the beginning of February 2024 - PET worldwide reported. The sales processes for the Micasa and 'Do it + Garden' specialty stores are underway.
