The British pet shop chain Jollyes has announced a series of initiatives for employees who already work for the company or want to apply for a job.
The programme called "fur-st impressions", for example, allows applicants to bring their pets to the interview. After a pilot test, Jollyes is convinced that the company of pets reduces the tension during job interviews and creates a more pleasant, authentic environment for both the interviewer and the applicant.
Jollyes has also launched a dedicated recruitment and careers website that makes the application process and business benefits more transparent for candidates. The new recruitment portal shows what applicants can expect at interview and gives them guidance on the type of questions they can expect. “The number of applications has skyrocketed to over 4 500 in the first few weeks after the pilot launch of the new portal, which equates to the number of applications received in the last three years," the company reports.
New benefits have also been introduced for the employees themselves. For example, they can take a sabbatical of up to six months and are offered an equivalent position at Jollyes on their return. There are also numerous discount schemes, maternity and paternity leave and a rewards programme that allows employees to nominate colleagues who they feel deserve a little recognition.
