The Swiss retail group Migros is in the midst of one of the largest restructuring programmes in the company's history. Back in April, it became known that the group's speciality stores in particular were suffering from declining sales. Individual branches have already been closed, including individual Do it + Garden stores, which also sell pet ranges.
Migros is now going one step further. The retail company intends to focus on its core business in future and wants to sell some of its speciality store chains. These include Do it + Garden. All shops in the speciality store formats up for sale will continue to operate for the time being, however. Obi's ten stores, on the other hand, are to remain open in the future. A project group under the leadership of the Migros Cooperative Basel is currently working on possible future options for the strategic direction and operation of the franchise stores.
