Fressnapf looking to invest in food production

Fressnapf Beteiligungs GmbH is considering a project-related minority joint venture with MAGA. The Fressnapf Group confirmed the news in response to a question by PET worldwide. This information came to light from a list of current cases published by the German competition authority on 28 October and attracted a lot of interest in the pet supplies sector.

The planned cooperative venture is closely linked to the challenges presently posed to companies in the pet sector by stretched supply chains and raw material shortages. Fressnapf is aiming thereby to secure future raw material and production capacities on an ongoing basis.

MAGA Beteiligungs GmbH is a holding company which is also an umbrella company for branded manufacturer Interquell and private label supplier Bionic Nature. As part of the announced venture, MAGA wishes to invest, as the majority shareholder in a new company to be established, in a moist food production plant for dog and cat food. Fressnapf is looking to acquire a minority share in the new company.
