Italian pet market continues to grow

The Italian pet food and accessories market increased its turnover in 2019 by 1.5 per cent to a volume of just below 2.1 bn euros, according to Assalco and BolognaFiere. With a total of 60.4 million animals, Italy is the European country with the most pets, a ratio of 1:1 with the human population, point out the two organisations. 67 per cent of Italian households own a dog, cat or other animal. Poland is the one country in Europe with a higher percentage of people who own a pet.
