In Germany, the corporate group grew by six per cent, with sales totalling 329.05 mio euros (310.38 mio euros in 2017). Sales in the Austrian stores increased by 12.7 per cent to 38.83 mio euros (34.46 mio euros in 2017). Growth on the existing retail area amounted to 5.4 per cent.
As of the end of December 2018, Das Futterhaus had 328 stores in Germany and 41 stores in Austria. It opened 29 new outlets in Germany and one store in Austria last year.
The store chain intends to open 30 new stores in Germany and Austria in 2019. Expansion will be focused on southern Germany and conurbations across the country.
