On April 6th, in Curno, the German franchiser Fressnapf will open its second "Maxi Zoo" market in Italy, its 750th in total. "It is our vision to become number 1 in the Italian market," said Fressnapf managing director Torsten Toeller. Italy, whose market is valued at roughly 2.2 billion euros, is Europe's fourth largest pet market after the UK, Gemany and France. According to information from Fressnapf, Italy is traditionally served by smaller pet shops with a maximum of 200 m² floor space.
