Strenuous efforts to maintain delivery capability
The Iams production plant in Coevorden, in the Netherlands, was damaged by fire on 12 October. The fire broke out in an exhaust filter below a smokestack. According to information from the company, it took two-and-a-half hours from discovery of the fire to bring the blaze under control. No production staff were hurt, and although there was substantial damage to the building, the production plant appears not to have been affected as far as the company can tell at this point. Investigations are currently under way to determine how the fire will affect the delivery situation in the foreseeable future. The company’s main task now is to ensure that the supply chain is not interrupted and all Iams/Eukanuba products remain available for sale. All the necessary steps are currently under discussion in Coevorden, at the Iams European headquarters in Geneva and in Schwalbach. Crisis teams have been assembled in all three locations, with several meetings a day being convened in some cases.
