Puppies can eat their way to intelligence with suitable nutrition

Memory capacity and receptiveness to training in young dogs can be positively influenced with suitable nutrition, according to the results of a study published by Iams Pet Food. Puppies that receive increased concentrations of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) both prior to weaning (in the mother’s milk) and afterwards (in puppy food) have demonstrated an increased capacity for learning. DHA occurs in fish oils and fish that are high in fat. It is also found in human breast milk and is considered an extremely important nutrient for increasing brain size in infants.
