Franchiser acquires the majority shareholding in City-Zoo

Fressnapf has acquired the majority holding in the French pet product chain City-Zoo. The ten stores, with an average retail area of 1,100 m2, achieved sales totalling € 14.2 mio last year. The City-Zoo stores are located in Annemasse, Grenoble, Dijon, Orléans, Angers, Nantes, Cabriès, Marseille, Montpellier and Toulouse. The principal franchise partner and managing director of the new Fressnapf subsidiary is the previous proprietor Mathieu Bonnier, a vet who established the speciality retail company in 1993. The stores are being converted to the Fressnapf concept and renamed Maxi Zoo.
